한니발섬은 아빠의 은행 계좌, 로션, 맥라프 박사의 개인 번호를 이용할 수 있는 특권을 가진 신흥 기업들을 위한 완벽한 비밀 휴양지입니다. 아마 이 열대 낙원은 처음 와보시는 것 같아요. 아마 당신은 태양과 바다의 베테랑이겠죠. 어느 쪽이든 이곳에 갇힐 줄은 몰랐겠죠. 맥라프 박사의 열쇠는 도난당했고 식량 공급은 줄어들고 있고 며칠 내로 섬을 떠나지 않으면 모두가 굶을 겁니다

열쇠를 꼭 쥐어준 채, 죄를 지은 당사자는 모두가 분노와 편집증에 빠지는 것을 지켜본다. 그들이 기다리던 순간, 이야기를 들려줄 목격자 한 명도 남지 않은 채 금기를 깰 수 있는 기회다. 고기 잔치를 할 시간이에요!”

한니발 섬에서는 모든 사람들이 특권을 가진 휴가객이나 아마도 맥라프 박사라는 비밀스러운 역할을 하고 있다. 한 명의 플레이어가 카니발 역할을 맡게 되는데, 카니발이 섬 안의 모든 사람을 죽이거나 잡아먹는 것이 그들의 목표이며, 다른 모든 플레이어들은 카니발을 잡아먹기 전에 살아남아 린치를 가하는 것이다.

한니발 섬은 마피아/늑대 변형이다. 마피아와 달리 카니발은 매 턴마다 살인을 할 필요가 없고 식량 공급의 감소에 따라 시한이 정해진다. 각 캐릭터는 식욕(하루에 얼마나 많은 음식이 필요한가)과 건강 가치(죽기 전에 몇 일 동안 식욕 가치를 충족시키지 못하는가)를 가지고 있다.

이 게임은 정직한 게임 그룹이 있을 경우 진행자나 심판 없이 최대 7명의 플레이어와 함께 작동하도록 설계되어 있다. 더 많은 선수들이 있지만, 경기는 여전히 경기의 흐름을 보조할 심판원을 필요로 한다.

“Hannibal Island, the perfect secret getaway resort for every over-privileged upstart that has access to Daddy's bank account, some lotion and Dr. McRaph's private number. Maybe it's your first time in this tropical paradise. Perhaps you are a veteran of the sun and sea, either way none of you expected to be trapped here. Dr. McRaph's keys have been stolen, the food supply is dwindling and if you don't get off the island in a few days everyone is going to starve.

With the key held tight in their grasp, the guilty party watches everyone descend into fits of rage and paranoia. This is the moment they have been waiting for, a chance to break the taboo without a single witness left to tell the tale. It is now time for the meat feast!”

In Hannibal Island everyone adopts the secret role of a over-privileged holiday goer or perhaps Dr. McRaph himself. One player is dealt the role of the Cannibal it is their aim to murder/eat everyone on the island, while it is everyone else’s aim to survive and lynch the cannibal before he/she eats them all.

Hannibal Island is a Mafia/Werewolf variant. Unlike Mafia, the Cannibal does not have to kill every turn and the time limit is set by the dwindling food supply. Each character has an appetite (how much food they need in a day) and a health value (how many days they can not meet their appetite value before dying) Once players get used to the game extra cards/roles can be added to vary the game play and add more strategy, victory conditions and most importantly fun!

The game is designed to work with up to seven players without a moderator or judge, if you have an honest gaming group. With more players the game still requires a judge to assist with the flow of the game.
