포클랜드 제도(Falklands)는 1833년 이후 아르헨티나와 영국 사이에 외교 분쟁을 일으킨 남대서양의 작은 섬이다.

1982년 4월 2일 아르헨티나 군대가 포클랜드 섬을 침공하여 포클랜드 전쟁이 시작되었다. 영국군의 반응은 즉각적이었고, 4월 5일 첫 부대는 포클랜드로 향했다. 아르헨티나는 6월 14일에 항복했다.

포클랜드 전쟁은 제2차 세계 대전 이후 최대 규모의 공해전이었고, 군수, 미사일, 공군, 직업군 등의 현대전에서 중요성을 강조했다.

The Falklands ("Malvinas" in Spanish) are a small group of islands in the South Atlantic that have caused a diplomatic conflict between Argentina and the UK since 1833.

On the 2nd April 1982 Argentinian forces invaded the islands, which started the Falklands' War. The British reaction was immediate and on the 5th April the first forces sailed to the Falklands. The Argentinians surrendered on the 14th June.

The Falklands' War was the largest air and sea operation since WWII and highlighted the importance in modern warfare of logistics, missiles (air-air, ship-air), the air forces, professional troops, etc.
