솔라 스타파이어는 스타파이어 시리즈의 여섯 번째 버전이다. 스타파이어는 전술 전투와 전략적 캠페인 시스템 두 부분으로 나뉜다.

전술 전투는 전술 레벨과 작전 레벨을 모두 갖춘 빠른 속도의 함대급 우주선 전투 시스템이다. 전술적 수준은 우주선이 행성과 워프 포인트 주변에서 함대함 전투를 벌이는 곳이다. 작전 레벨은 적이 숨어있는 곳을 찾기 위해 우주선의 함대를 항성계를 가로질러 이동시키는 것입니다. 우주선의 디자인은 간단하고 만들기 쉬우며 전투 시스템은 플레이어가 하루에 수십 개의 우주선을 파괴할 수 있을 만큼 충분히 빠르다.

캠페인 시스템은 플레이어가 제국을 세우고 제국을 건설하기 위한 시도에서 연구, 건설, 식민지화, 탐험 등 모든 확장 측면을 통제할 수 있게 한다. 절차적으로 생성된 시스템 세대와 비플레이어 레이스 세대로 설계된 각 캠페인은 문자 그대로 독특하다. 캠페인 시스템은 커스텀 게임을 위해 쉽게 수정될 수 있도록 만들어졌으며 규칙은 커스텀 게임을 만드는 데 도움이 되는 수백 페이지의 추가 소스 자료를 가지고 있다.

원래 울트라 스타파이어 룰의 업그레이드로 시작된 솔라 스타파이어는 울트라 스타파이어를 기반으로 새로운 목표와 목적을 가진 살아있는 작품이 됐다. 새로운 소재, 새로운 출시 방법, 그리고 무엇보다도 새로운 스토리라인으로 게임을 계속해서 적응시키고 업그레이드할 계획을 가지고 있는 새로운 개발자 팀에 의해 규칙이 만들어지고 있다. 솔라 스타파이어는 테란 솔라 유니온의 역사를 위해 특별히 만들어졌으며 스토리 라인이 새로운 가능성을 열어주면서 계속 확장될 예정이다.

SOLAR STARFIRE is the sixth edition of the Starfire series. Starfire has two parts: tactical combat and a strategic campaign system.

The tactical combat is a fast paced, fleet-level starship combat system with both a tactical level and an operational level. The tactical level is where starships engage in ship-to-ship combat around planets and warp points. The operational level is where you maneuver your fleet of starships across a star system to find where your enemy is hiding. Starship designs are simple, easy to create, and the combat system is quick enough to let players destroy dozens of starships in an evening.

The campaign system allows a player to start an empire and control all aspects of expansion: research, construction, colonization, exploration, etc. in an attempt to build an empire. Designed with procedurally generated system generation and a non-player race generation, each campaign is literally unique. The campaign system has been made to be easily modified for custom games and the rules have a hundred additional pages of source materials to help create those custom games.

Originally started as an upgrade of the Ultra Starfire rules, Solar Starfire is based on Ultra Starfire and has become a living work with new goals and purpose. The rules are being built by a new team of developers that have plans to continuously adapt and upgrade the game with new material, new release methods, and most of all - the new storyline. Solar Starfire was built specifically for the history of the Terran Solar Union and will continue to be expanded as the story line opens up new possibilities.

Still using the unique tactical combat system designed in 1976, Solar Starfire is the same core gaming system as Starfire has always been. The new team is building free starter materials for new players to learn and demo the Starfire system, while the website maintains a community forum and a FREE downloads section with player-created materials and previously-available gaming materials for most editions of Starfire.
