게임을 시작할 때 플레이어는 비밀 시티즌 카드와 경로 카드 3개를 가지고 무작위로 알래스카 해안 방문자 카드를 10열로 조립하여 해당하는 방문자 카드를 카드에 붙인다.

그리고 나서 선수들은 돌아가면서 각 턴마다 경로 카드를 치게 된다. 경로 카드는 여러 가지 방법으로 사용할 수 있습니다: 성장하는 지도를 만들거나, 방문객이 스프라이트 보석을 수집할 수 있도록 돕거나, 작성된 지도를 따라 방문객을 안내하기 위해 스프라이트 보석을 사용할 수 있습니다. 지도를 만들 때, 플레이어는 기존의 경로에만 연결하여 피라미드 모양을 만들 수 있으며, 숲의 길을 조입니다!

한 명의 방문객이 정상에 도달했을 때 게임이 종료됩니다. 승자를 결정하기 위해 플레이어는 자신의 비밀 역할을 공개하며, 각각 자신이 점수를 획득하는 특정 스프라이트 보석을 자세히 설명한다. 플레이어는 자신이 지정한 스프라이트 보석을 들고 있는 방문객의 위치에 따라 점수를 집계한다. 스프라이트 보석을 가장 많이 획득한 사람이 승리합니다.

'큐티가 패투티를 만났을 때'는 다니엘 자야스 컴퍼니의 '엔탱글먼트 시리즈'의 첫 번째 게임이다. 이 게임은 단독 플레이가 가능한 "물을 움직이는 남자"라는 제목의 미니 확장판을 탑재하고 있다.

In When Cutie Met Patootie, we meet Cutie, the residents of Kodiak Harbor, and the ten alien visitors who have just arrived on nearby Alaskan shores. Cutie has been in the care of her grandmother while her archeologist parents are on a dangerous expedition. However, after their being gone for six months, Cutie and the residents of Kodiak Harbor fear the worst. Join Cutie as she travels into the forest with Amelia, one of the visitors, to discover the truth of her parents' whereabouts.

At the beginning of the game, players take a secret Citizen card and three path cards, then they randomly assemble the Alaskan shore visitor cards in a row of ten and place the corresponding Visitor pieces on their card.

Players then take turns playing a path card each turn. Path cards can be used in multiple ways: build the growing map, help visitors collect sprite gems, or spend those sprite gems to advance visitors along the built map. When building the map, players can connect only to the existing path to create a pyramid shape, ever tightening the forest path!

The end of the game is triggered when one visitor reaches the top. To determine a winner, players reveal their secret roles, each detailing specific sprite gems for which they earn points. Players tally points based on the location of visitors holding their designated sprite gems. The person with the most sprite gem points wins!

When Cutie Met Patootie is the first game of The Entanglement Series by The Daniel Zayas Company. This game ships with a mini-expansion titled The Man Who Moves the Water, which allows for solo play.
