Super-G 2018 is the third (of four) offering in our Alpine Skiing series. Slalom 2018 and Giant Slalom 2018 are already out there, work will start on Downhill 2018 as soon as Super-G goes off to be published.

All four events are similar but different! Super-G could have been called \'Mini Downhill\' but \'super\' is a more appealing term than \'mini\' so they went with that. The differences (from Slalom and Giant Slalom) are sufficient to require another re-think and re-design of the basic game engine, hopefully reflecting the difference in the events themselves, but that is for you to judge.

Skiers still have three Ratings, but Start is of less importance as the race times are longer, and we have added Technique to the ever-present Control and Speed. In game terms Technique is the skier\'s inherent ability in the approach to the turns and in the turns themselves. And because this is an in-built ability the Rating for Technique isn\'t subject to movement up and down during a run although there may be marginal changes for a particular Turn as part of the Performance Roll. But those changes are temporary, for that Turn only.

Because run times are usually between 60 and 90 seconds there is only one run per skier in each event. And to make the simulation as playable as possible a run consists of just six Turns, two each of Top Section, Middle Section and Bottom Section. One run rather than two helps to simulate the lessened predictability of the event and to reinforce that we let each Turn for each skier use the current Control Rating plus either the current Speed Rating or the static Tech Rating. Once again we have supplied Ratings for the top thirty in the World Cup tables for both Men and Ladies, plus twenty All-Time-Greats in both categories. Details of how to generate your own Ratings are included as before as are very similar solo rules using the familiar Mindset concept. Enjoy.
